The science behind red light therapy and infrared heat

Elevate your favorite workout with the healing power of light therapy at Luma Wellness. Our innovative studio offers both pilates and yoga sessions for a unique blend of strength training, flexibility, and two state-of-the-art light modalities–red light therapy and infrared light technology.

What is infrared red light therapy?

Red Light Therapy got its start at NASA in the 1980s. Scientists were using it to grow plants in space when they noticed it had amazing effects on healing. Fast forward to today, and over 4,000 scientific studies have proven what those NASA scientists first discovered–red light really works.

Luma Wellness combines the core-strengthening and body-sculpting benefits of pilates and yoga with the therapeutic effects of red light. (Yes, the same red light you get at the med spa!) During your session, you'll exercise while bathed in soothing infrared light, creating a synergistic effect that enhances both your workout and recovery.

The Science

Our studio utilizes two distinct therapeutic technologies, all at once: Red Light Therapy and infrared heat panels. Red Light Therapy penetrates deep into your tissues at a cellular level, activating your mitochondria (your cells' power plants) to boost energy production and accelerate healing. Meanwhile, our infrared heat panels provide penetrating warmth that goes deeper than traditional heating methods, helping your muscles stay pliable and encouraging natural detoxification through sweat.

This powerful combination allows your body to work more efficiently - leading to increased calorie burn (up to 500 calories per session), faster recovery, and enhanced results from every movement.

Hear from our founder:

"At Luma Wellness, we've reimagined the pilates experience. By integrating red light therapy and infrared light with traditional pilates and yoga techniques, we've created a workout that not only sculpts and tones but also rejuvenates and heals. Our infrared pilates sessions offer a time-efficient, low-impact, yet high-intensity workout that goes beyond the surface to transform your body from the inside out.”
